Nepal is a landlocked country with China to the North and India to the South, East and West. Because of its mainly mountainous terrain, roads and aviation are the major modes of transportation in the country at present. The country uses India’s eastern port of Kolkata as its main gateway to the sea. The presence of railways is negligible, a 1,100 Km long east to west railway project through the southern plains is under discussion. This opportunity may be tapped by interested investors. Similarly, fast track roads with tolls are being designed and investments in such projects are open to all.
